Crucial Unicorn used to be called Static Revolution.... here are some reasons for the name change:
Reason #1:
Joe couldn't spell "Static Revolution" consistently enough to get our name spelled correctly on fliers, until a few months ago. So we decided to fuck with him and change the name so he has to start all over again.
Reason #2:
Tai has always wanted to make a custom "Tai Ma Signature Unicorn" Vans shoe. We will be selling these shoes at all of our shows in the future, and we figured it would be a good time to kill two birds.
Reason #3:
We have the most bad-ass shirt design you have ever seen, and we need a reason to make them. Get off myspace for a week and get a job so you can afford to purchase one of these amazing specimins at our first official unicorn show at Gilman St. in Berkeley, on May 6th.
Reason #4:
We just recorded 3 new songs for a split 7" with Set it Straight - and we wanted to fuck with them a bit and put them through the agony of explaining what/who the fuck Crucial Unicorn is at every show when they try to sell those suckas. This 7" should be out soon, we will keep you posted.
Reason #5:
We have 2 new members: Jon C. on guitar and Dustin on drums - and we are better now too, so when the BEST NAME IN THE ENTIRE WORLD, came to us in our sleep, we knew we had to act on it. Also, Dustin thinks the name isn't good enough to get chicks with... so we decided to use it to give him a bit more of a challenge. We look out for each other like that.
Reason #6:
Joe will be turning 50 soon, and we were thinking about all the long-standing bands out there with old guys in it like: Rolling Stones, Queen, Foreigner, Journey, The Eagles, Chicago,
etc - and we just feel like we have a better chance of fitting in with those all-time greats with a name like "Crucial Unicorn." We know you're feelin it.
Reason #7:
Jon J. does a mean "Call of the Unicorn" - we'll be taking requests for him to perfrm it live at all forthcoming shows.
Reason #8:
Jon C. was the young puppet gelfling guy in the movie "The Dark Crystal"
when he was a kid, and I think there was a unicorn in that movie or something... so he likes them.
Now that we got that out of the way. Crucial Unicorn is a 5 peice band based in Santa Cruz California, that plays heavy, melodic punk rock.
